ADVISORY PRODUCTS & RETAIL BROKERAGE DIRECTOR - IAD

Charles Schwab, a Fortune 500 leader in financial services is
searching for a Director of Internal Audit to support our retail
brokerage operations.



Group Overview:


The Internal Audit Department's objective, as designated
representatives of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, is
to ensure that the risk management framework and internal controls of
the Charles Schwab Corporation optimally serve the interests of the
firm's many stakeholders.


Our audit teams are aligned with all of the enterprises and business
lines, including all subsidiaries. We work in conjunction with other
Oversight groups (i.e. Compliance, Risk Management & Investigations
and Legal) and report internally to the audit committee and other
oversight committees and externally to our public accountants and
regulators, principally the FRB.



Responsibilities:

Key contributor role in IAD responsible for executing core
audits in the Schwab Investor Services enterprise serving retail
clients

Consultation with the businesses and Oversight groups to
enhance the infrastructure to manage risk effectively in a dynamic
organization

Development and execution of relevant internal audit
projects in varying size and complexity

Integration of real-time industry benchmarking and best
practices through ongoing research and industry affiliations

Presentation of synthesized audit findings and follow-up of
agreed-upon resolutions

Identification and recommendation of practical solutions
for preventing and detecting complex internal control issues

Directly manages business relationships and communicates
with management regarding major risks


Qualifications:

Familiarity with the Exchange Act of 1934 and Investment
Advisors Act of 1940
Demonstrated expertise in pertinent rules and regulations,
including NASD rules 2110, 2310 and 2430 as they relate to
brokerage fee based accounts and SEC rule 206 (4) -7 as it
relates to advisory referral accounts
Minimum of five years experience in building and/or enhancing
processes and systems for supervision of brokerage fee based
accounts and advisory referral accounts at a major securities
brokerage
Minimum of five years of experience in internal audits of
sales and supervisory practices related to brokerage fee based
accounts and advisory referral accounts with a major
securities brokerage
Minimum of seven years financial services experience with
solid understanding of regulatory oversight
Demonstrated risk management expertise in analyzing business
risks and processes, identifying internal control weaknesses,
and collaborating with management to develop and implement
solutions
Familiarity with Sarbanes Oxley and PCAOB Standards preferred
Must possess strong teamwork, excellent interpersonal and
communication skills, and have a strong record of influencing
senior management and leading change
CPA, CIA or CFA. Experience with a big four accounting firm
and a major full commission brokerage a plus
