Superintendent

The Superintendent reports to the appropriate Area Manager. This salaried - exempt individual is responsible for supervising all field activities including those of subcontractors.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

1. Hire, supervise and terminate all field employees under his / her supervision.

2. Determine the sequence and manner in which work will be carried out, consistent with the Project Manager’s directives and established schedules.

3. Maintain performance at a level consistent with established schedules.

4. Ensure that all work, whether performed by Company forces or by subcontractors, meets the highest standards of quality workmanship.

5. Receive and properly store all materials and equipment that are delivered to the job site.

6. Maintain assigned equipment in good working order and conduct such field repairs as may be necessary. Coordinate major repairs with the Company’s Equipment Manager.

7. Schedule equipment so as to achieve maximum utilization and to minimize the need for rentals.

8. Prepare all reports, records and forms as required.

9. Ensure that all on-site activities are carried out in strict accordance with the Company’s Loss Control Program and all applicable OSHA regulations.

10. Cooperate with other Project Superintendents and the Equipment Manager in transferring material, equipment and personnel among projects.

11. Maintain neat, orderly work areas that are secure from unlawful intrusions and which also protect the public.

12. Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Depending upon the type and scope of work, the lead Superintendent is either from the Civil or Mechanical group.
Large projects may require Superintendents from both areas as well as assistance from other Superintendents, various craft Foreman and Field Engineers.
Superintendents are located at the job site.
