Substation Civil Engineer

Purpose: A well know utilities company in Seattle is looking for an experience Civil Engineer. This is a permanent position with full benefits and 401K plan.


Duties:

-Preparation of civil/structural design drawings, detailed cost estimates, material lists, technical reports, and plans for permitting, construction and renovation of substation facilities
-Capability to provide insightful and timely civil engineering services for site assessments, conceptual and preliminary layouts and cost estimates, final designs, drainage and other studies, and permitting and construction issues
-The capability to select and direct engineering consultants when needed to perform certain aspects of projects
-The ability to efficiently and competently handle multiple tasks, sometimes difficult and non-routine, with little or no direction and oversight
-Willingness and ability to take an active or lead role in team, permitting, construction and other meetings and discussions related to projects
-Being recognized and used as an engineering resource by others because of knowledge and experience, and sharing that resource as a mentor to junior engineers
-The ability to contribute original, innovative solutions and ideas based on proven engineering judgment, experience and intuition


Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. A minimum of 8-10 years demonstrated experience as a civil/structural design engineer (technical competence in the discipline). Ability to apply engineering economic principles and manage multiple assignments concurrently, prepare accurate, clear and constructable deliverables within agreed upon schedules. Demonstrated effective communications, both verbal and written. Proficiency with MS Office/basic computer skills.
