Sr. Project Engineer (Estimating focus)

Pre-Construction/Estimating/Project Start Up
·Schedule and lead hand-off meeting upon contract award.
·Generates master schedule of activities for negotiated/GMP projects
·Conducts subcontract/vendor scope interviews prior to subcontract award

Estimating:
·Analyze bids and project scopes
·Answer subcontractor scope review questions
·Participate in take-offs and understanding specifications
·Participate in pre-bid meetings
·Participate in plan review and estimate reviews for perspective projects
·Utilize and complete the subcontractor pre-qualification form
·Responsible for soliciting subcontractors/suppliers to ensure proper coverage
·Distribute Documents to interested bidders

Construction Management
·Manages job start up and schedule planning through project completion and closeout including use of appropriate tools
·Assist with identifying and implementing cost and time saving measures during purchasing.
·Schedule and lead weekly project team meetings and client meetings or teleconferences.
·Write Vender Contract Drafts. No approval authority.
·Implement project management tools. Manage tools:
Daily Construction Report; Manpower Report; VCD Schedule; Cost Issue Log; RFI Log; Room Matrix Schedule; QCL; Punch list. PO/EWO Logs; General Conditions Monitor;; IRL; Submittal Log; Change Orders; Closeout Documents. Monthly Billing; Project Financial Report .
·Expediting change order process with subcontractors and client.
·Forecast effectively in project cost reports.
·Establish and manage timely pay application to Owner.
·Initial review of payment for subcontractor pay applications and vendor invoices. Final approval submitted by Project Manager.
·Document timely potential issues affecting the client’s budget and schedule.
·Submit weekly Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) for future projects.
·Participate and enforce Weis Safety Program.
·Establish and monitor QA/QC processes with superintendent-checklists, QCL, punch lists.

Post Construction
·Assist Project Coordinator to obtain final closeout submission documents.
·Schedule and monitor eleven month walk thru with client.
·Secure final bonds and security returns.
·Prepare project records for storage.
·Assist in warranty follow-ups.

General
·Acquire understanding of building code and design.
·Work to improve personal, technical and managerial skills.
·Champion company policies and procedures. Offer improvements.
·Able to identify project risks and offer solutions.
REQUIREMENTS
·Bachelors degree in construction management, engineering, or related field

--Knowledge and Experience:
·3 years project engineer experience with at least 1 year of Estimating experience in construction.
·Knowledge of scheduling software-Suretrak and project management software.
·Knowledge of Microsoft based software applications-Outlook, Excel, Word.
·Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
·Prior construction knowledge required.
·Prior experience performing quantity take-offs.
·Knowledge of subcontractors and their capabilities.
