Sr. Buyer / Purchasing / Procurement Agent

This senior level procurement position is responsible for obtaining large industrial equipment, ensuring that quality, cost effective products are delivered in a timely manner. Considerable independent judgment is required to determine prudent procurement decisions.

Duties & Responsibilities:
· Source equipment and other mechanical parts (pipe and valves), evaluates RFQ's (Request for Quote), negotiates price, quality and delivery, selects supplier and places purchase orders in conformance to local and Corporate Operating Procedures.
· Expedites delivery by contacting vendors and shippers to ensure that merchandise, supplies and equipment are forwarded on specified shipping date.
Works with product teams or other procurement staff to generate Request For Quotations (RFQ's) for new or modified parts. Corresponds with or interviews suppliers to obtain price, specifications and delivery information.
· Develops and manages supplier and fabricator relationships. Tracks and evaluates supplier and fabricator performance. Manages supplier and fabricator quality.

Negotiates contracts with suppliers and/or subcontractors to minimize liability. Contracts will address such issues as stocking or consignment programs, unit price, delivery, terms and conditions, etc.
· Evaluates make/buy decisions and enter into the computer system.
REQUIREMENTS
· B.A. or B.S. in business administration, procurement, operations or related field or eight years internal experience with proven performance and product knowledge of heavy industrial mechanical equipment.
Minimum eight years professional experience in purchasing of large industrial equipment.
· Experience in purchasing valves, pipes, and pumps for industrial facilities.
· Must demonstrate exceptional negotiation skills, planning skills and strong interpersonal skills in order to interact with suppliers and co-workers in a team-based environment.
Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks in a high volume environment with minimum supervision.
Strong computer PC skills needed, must have experience in Excel and Word.
