Job Summary:
Coordinate detailed village planning, landscape design and approvals for Summerlin projects. Prepare and monitor budgets and schedules and interface with government agencies. Develop design criteria and oversee the builder review process. Assist the Director of Planning & Design.
The Job Duties include:
Oversee activities of consultants working in detailed village planning, custom lot planning, engineering, landscape design and entitlements. Collaborate with Operations, Marketing, Financial Services and the Summerlin Community Association to ensure their participation and review during this process.
Review consultant proposals and recommend award of contracts. Prepare work orders and administer contracts. Review and recommend disposition of invoices.
Review and approve landscape amenity area plans, from design development through construction drawings, for parks, walls, streetscapes, and other amenities.
Facilitate interaction and coordination between Summerlin consultants and governmental agencies. Resolve government/jurisdictional issues that affect detailed village planning efforts.
Develop, monitor, and review adherence to project schedules and budgets. Identify for management any problems that may affect performance.
Develop and update Village Design Criteria, Custom Lot Design Criteria, Summerlin Development Standards, Signage Criteria, and other control documents as required.
Chair the Residential Design Review Committee and oversee the Builder Review process. Review and approve developer/builder plans on a weekly basis to ensure consistency with established design criteria, zoning requirements, and other standards. Serve on various other Design Review Committees (Custom Lots, Commercial, etc.) as needed.
Monitor actions by public agencies that affect specific Summerlin builder programs and coordinate problem solving activities as required. Assist and support builders through the agency approval process.
Assist with special projects as directed.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related field is required.
Must be a motivated and self-directed individual, able to exercise good judgement and work with minimum supervision.
Must be a team player and utilize strong communication skills when performing job duties.
Requires at least 8-12 years experience in land planning, community development, landscape architecture, and entitlements.
Must have experience with project management, including schedules, budgets, and contract administration as well as preparation and administration of design criteria.
Knowledge and understanding of engineering and construction principles is required.
Must be able to read and interpret construction and architectural plans.
