Pepco Energy Services is a leading provider of competitive energy and energy-related services for residential, small business, and large commercial customers.This position has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating civil and structural projects across the Transmission and Substation group. This position requires extensive progressive experience thereby able to perform and interpret complex engineering and/or economic data analyses for large and/or complex engineering project, using specialized programs and or vendor specific software. This position will be company liaison to outside
groups, organizations, governments and regulatory bodies and will represent the Transmission and Substation group in
working with other departments, consultants and contractors to establish or review plans, designs, calculations methods, solutions, etc. This position will be assigned primarily to the New Jersey service area but is consulted by associates and will provide support, technical guidance, expertise and training to other engineers in the group thereby requiring a familiarity with New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia requirements
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Minimum 8 years of progressive, relevant civil and structural engineer experience (including experience as a Senior Engineer)
OR the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training demonstrating the following skills:
performing complex work independently, effectively incorporating engineering theories, standards, concepts,
and techniques as well as engineering/industry/government codes and regulations;
performing and interpreting complex engineering and/or economic data analyses for large and/or complex
engineering projects, using specialized utility programs and/or vendor-specific software (such as STAAD, Alcoa SAG-
10, TL workstation, PLS-Pole, Optimal Polecad, etc.);
developing creative solutions to complex problems;
managing multiple complex engineering projects/assignments and ensuring work conforms to project/task requirements, including coordinating work across different areas, departments and/or work groups;
identifying the need for new complex projects/initiatives and recommending a solution;
mentoring engineers and others in a variety of engineering projects/activities; and,
keeping abreast of new equipment, methods and developments in an engineering specialty
Extensive experience demonstrating skill presenting oral and written results of engineering projects
Experience demonstrating skill serving as a liaison to outside groups, organizations, government agencies and/or
regulatory bodies
Experience demonstrating skill promoting and ensuring a safe work environment and compliance with Federal, state,
local and company regulations (for example, OSHA, Sarbanes-Oxley).
Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, analytical and e-mail software.
Experience demonstrating skill using design software (for example, CAD software, Visio).
Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and work sites.
Ability and willingness to work extended hours (including holidays and weekends) with little or no notice, on-call and during storms and system emergencies.
Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies and to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and PHI regulations (for example, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves and sleeves, hard hat, fire retardant clothing).
Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments which may include outdoors in all weather
conditions, on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces, climbing, underground and in noisy and
dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records
Preferred:
Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey.
Knowledge of utility economic analysis techniques.
Experience demonstrating skill providing expert testimony for hearings regarding issues such as permits,
variances, special exceptions, regulatory and/or governmental requirements.
Experience demonstrating skill performing other relevant utility engineer functions (for example, electric, gas, telecommunications).
