Safety & Health Officer

The selected candidate will be responsible for providing on-site safety management and oversight for remedial/environmental, geo-technical, and heavy construction projects. The overall responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to safety observation and direction, training, and safety audits as they relate to construction and environmental field projects.
The specific responsibilities of the site Safety and Health Officer (SHO) are as follows:
Develop and implement project health and safety· plans, job safety analyses, etc.
Implement CRA programs to minimize the· potential for employee exposure to chemical, biological, and physical hazards.
Implement CRA procedures for investigating, reporting, and· controlling occupational injuries and illnesses.
Conduct PPE assessments,· respiratory fit testing and implement site PPE programs.
Conduct project· safety audits, air monitoring and sampling.
Work in conjunction with· project supervision and management to ensure a safe working environment and manage the site loss control program.
Assist Regional Safety and Health· Managers with their program requirements as needed.Qualifications:
The position requires a degree in a safety, environmental science, or related field, plus a minimum of 2-5 years of progressive project safety experience as a site safety officer or in relevant capacity employed by a construction/consulting company. The additional requirements and qualifications are as follows:
Knowledge of OSHA legislation related to· environmental consulting and construction is a must.
Experience delivering· tailgate safety meetings and training topics such as Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and Confined Space Entry is preferred. Willing to travel· across the US and be placed on long term assignments.
40-Hour HAZWOPER· certification a plus.
Certification such as a CHST or similar designation· is also a plus.
