Regional Civil Engineer - Apple Valley, MN

Hanson Pipe & Precast, a Hanson Building Materials Company, is seeking a qualified Civil Engineer for its Regional Engineer Position for Minnesota and South Dakota locations. This position is located in Apple Valley, MN.

POSITION SUMMARY: REGIONAL ENGINEER
Develop product markets, design products, cultivate relationships, increase market share and eliminate competitive elements.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:
Protect market share of core products, primarily reinforced concrete pipe by –
Securing contracts
Generating concrete pipe friendly specifications
Obtaining approval of all Hanson products for their use in design and construction specifications at the Department of Transportation and other agencies, municipalities as well as with engineering and consulting firms
Grow the precast business by –
Becoming familiar and proficient with the various the manufacturing processes we use
Developing and understanding the basic design principles used in the design of our products
Designing products for bidding and manufacturing with any associate drawing needed
Obtaining approval for their use in design and construction specifications
Developing relationships with key specifiers and other key people of influence
Building strong relationships in the community, business, Department of Transportation, state agencies, municipalities, engineering and consulting firms
Assist in training sales personnel
Increase awareness of reinforced concrete pipe by –
Participating in plant tours for potential users
Conducting training seminars and marketing calls to engineers, municipalities and contractors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
4 to 8 years of construction production experience in the construction products industry
Working understanding of Auto Cad
Valid driver's license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional Engineer certification or capable of registration in the future

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Travel:
Less than 20% overnight travel required.
