Purchasing Agent

SENIOR CONSTRUCTION BUYER
We have a unique supervisory opportunity for an individual with construction buying experience (preferably in a retail environment).
GENERAL FUNCTION
Repsonsibilities of the Purchasing Agent include:
Establish overall direction for assigned commodities.
Manage major commodity purchasing processes, projects and associates including creation and execution of procurement plans that generate savings and sourcing improvements
High technical proficiency in a purchasing commodity, financial, systems or other areas
Authority on purchasing processes and trends for major commodity area
Ability to effectively interact with leadership team, executive management and others
Ability to lead and manage major cross-functional team projects that drive cost savings.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

BID / NEGOTIATION / SOURCING
Develops annual and quarterly purchasing objectives and strategies for major commodity.
Assists in development of annual Purchasing Commodity Calendar.
Develops requests for quotation or proposals for complex commodities / services.
Leads significant cross-functional projects that result in cost savings / process improvements.

SUPERVISION / TRAINING
Monitors, tracks and creates group annual and quarterly goals. Creates strategies to meet group objectives.
Administers performance reviews, salary recommendations and corrective action.
Train, coach and develop direct reports.
Provides direction related to utilization of purchasing systems and procedures.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves on cross-functional teams as the departments purchasing representative.
Facilitates and leads efforts to improve purchasing systems and processes.
Establish and execute annual cost savings targets within areas of responsibility.
Create and maintain high performing / effective teams through improved processes and innovative ideas.
Embrace and promote the customer service philosophy of exceeding customer expectations.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate for Purchasing Agent will meet the following requirements:

EDUCATION
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE
5-7 years in commodity procurement and management. Demonstrated leadership of purchasing associates and projects.
