Project Manager-Electrical
Overview
The Project / Production Manager (PM) is a key member of the Company’s leadership team and a direct report the company President. The position has a critical role in the achievement of company goals especially profitability and customer service goals.The PM is responsible for managing all aspect of the production process from the time the project is handed off from sales and estimating. The Project Manager has authority and responsibility for the successful completion of a project. The project manager is empowered to utilize all of the resources available to achieve success. It is the Project Manager’s responsibility to understand all project documents, including, but not limited to, agreements with contractors, work orders, change orders, budgets and customer instructions. The PM is ultimately responsible for the customer’s satisfaction with the project as well as the profitability of the project.Major responsibilities:
•Project documentation review.•Project budget review•Communicate project specifications and details to the lead electricians
•Project resource scheduling / forecasting of manpower requirements
•Material acquisition
•Employee management and evaluation
•Management of projects to budget and schedule, Quality control
•Identification of problems that will effect schedule, customer satisfaction and project profitability
•Estimating
•Change order management
•Employee training and development
•Customer Relationship management and customer satisfaction
•Field technician productivity and efficiency
•Project close-out including punch list, invoicing and payment
•Warranty work management
•Project status reporting
•Post project review and analysisSpecific duties include:•Obtain and review all information necessary to properly and effectively execute the project•Communicate the specifications, schedule and plans to the lead electricians
•Review and provide feedback on project budgets for forecasting purposes to reduce major budget variances at the end of a project
•Maintain up to date project folders/documentation
•Prepare detail project schedules to meet commitments to customers and communicate the schedules to the lead electricians and customers
•Maintain ongoing communications with contractors for scheduling updates and revisions as needed
•Develop labor resource requirements and schedule needed labor (e.g. when are new-hires or subcontractors needed)
•Prepare non-stock material purchase orders for all projects to ensure on-time availability
•Maintain control of all in-stock inventory and manage inventory levels
•Manage material return processes
•Conduct job walk-through to set-up new projects with lead electrician to ensure that the lead has the proper documentation, instructions, schedules, budgets and requirements to complete the project on time and on budget
•Ensure that all necessary equipment and material is available on time
•Order or oversee the ordering of additional material resulting from field changes to ensure on-time availability.•Continuous field management of all labor resources to insure the project is being completed to company standards, within budget and on schedule. Field management includes, but is not limited to, 1) periodic site visits 2) On-going phone communication with leads 3) daily progress reporting from the field 4) preparation and communication of schedule updates and revisions as required 5) provide field personnel with regular feedback 5) take corrective actions, where appropriate, when projects are not being completed in accordance with company standards, policy, budget and schedule•Manage all change orders and verify proper change order billing
•Address production issues in the field. Keep a list of project open issues and make certain that each effected party has the necessary information and documentation to resolve each item.•Work with the office manager to schedule all service and T&M work
•Continually communicate with the customer to ensure satisfaction.•Resolve customer issues on a timely basis
•Manage the completion of all punch list items and prepare all project close-out documentation
•Schedule and manage all warranty work
• Cost, review and manage daily field paperwork
•Prepare and make all calls and correspondence within a maximum 24-hour period
•Identify and schedule any follow-up items and return trips as needed. Write-up and manage additional work orders for all jobs
•Record hours from time sheets on a timely basis. Follow-up on incomplete or inaccurate time sheets
•Responsible for properly invoicing all jobs
a.Verify proper invoicing for T&M jobs
b.Manage invoice preparation such that field personnel have invoices to give to customers for all proposal based work
c.Review contract and all change orders to ensure proper invoicing to close out job
•Review and approve all purchase tickets from suppliers
•Manage accounts receivable with Office Manager and prepare project schedules based on current collection status•Prepare post project job analysis including project profitability and customer satisfaction review and discuss with lead electricians and President
•Estimate CO’s and small jobs.
•Review pricing and close small jobs over the phone
•Address final customer issues on a timely basis
•Evaluate employee performance on each project as well as prepare field employee reviews as needed
•Assist in the interview and hire of applicants for field positions
•Keep current on industry news and trends
•Complete special projects as assigned by President
REQUIREMENTS
Our Ideal Candidate Must Possess The Following* Minimum 3 years Production Management experience
* Minimum 5 years Electrical field experience
* Experience in Managing and supervising employees
* Computer proficiency
* Ability to multi task and prioritize
* Ability to Excel in a fast moving environment
* Must have experience in dealing directly with customers
* Must have great communication skills
