Project Manager - Construction - Program Managment
Hoar Construction was established in 1940 in Birmingham, Alabama by Mr. F. R. Hoar and has been in continuous operation since as a general contractor. As of 2006, our total staff is approximately 500. The firm manages over $700 million in construction annually. Hoar Construction’s Program Management Division is looking for a Project Manager with 4 to 8 years experience in Program Management or as an Owner Representative. This individual will be responsible for managing projects mainly in the state of Alabama and Georgia. This person will be based in Birmingham, AL. Projects will require this individual to travel to the job sites, based upon the stage of the projects. A monthly visit is required until the project is considered “in the dry”. Once the project is dry, a bi-weekly site visit is required until the project is completed. The life span of a typical project is 5 to 6 months from site mobilization.
REQUIREMENTS
Job Description:
The Project Manager has overall responsibility for coordination on a project to ensure the project is completed on budget, within schedule and complies with the design specifications. The Project Manager is also responsible for communicating the status of the previous items as well as issues affecting the success of the project to the client and Hoar management.
Once assigned to a project, the Project Manager is responsible for defining the scope of the project, preparing a budget, a project schedule and holding a kick-off meeting with identified stakeholders. After funding is approved the Project Manager is responsible for coordinating with the architect to complete design documents and initiate the permitting process. The Project Manager administers the bid process for awarding the construction contract to the selected general contractor, manages the general contractor during the construction process, processes pay applications and is the main point of contact for the general contractor. The Project Manager is also responsible for providing information to other internal client staff to ensure the proper FF&E, telecom, ATM and computer equipment is ordered with sufficient lead time to avoid delaying the project. During the project the Project Manager is responsible for keeping Hoar management and the client apprised of the project status and identifying and making sure any issues related to the project are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner.
