Plans Examiner and Building Inspector

The City of Caldwell seeks qualified individuals to fill the an opening for a Plans Examiner and an opening for a Building Inspector.

Plans Examiner: Reviews commercial and residential construction plans to ensure compliance with International Building codes, fire codes, State codes, and local codes and ordinances. Possesses good interpersonal skills and has the ability to effectively communicate with other City employees and the general public. Rate of pay: $16.21 to $19.45

Building Inspector: Conducts inspections of residential and commercial construction projects for evaluation and building permits. Possess good interpersonal skills and has the ability to effectively communicate with other City employees and the general public. Rate of pay: $14.73 to $17.67
REQUIREMENTS
Plans Examiner: Graduate from high school or GED equivalent; and minimum of 3 years experience as a Plans Examiner on commercial and industrial projects and permit processing for a public entity; and ability to obtain a State of Idaho Fire Inspector Certification within one year after employment; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work. Must possess a valid and current Idaho State driver's license, the I.C.C. Building Inspector Certification, the I.C.C. Certified Commercial Plans Examiner or I.C.C. Certified Building Plans Examiner, and prefer a valid I.C.C. Fire Code Certification.

Building Inspector: Graduate from high school or GED equivalent, supplemented by additional courses in structural engineering, building construction or a related field; and some experience in building construction or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.
