Paint Systems Operator II

We currently have an opening for a Paint System Operator II. This position operates Paint Process System to ensure product is properly painted according to defined process and al l paint equipment is properly maintained. Mixes paint for use in Paint Process System ability.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
·Read and follow work order.
·Mix paint according to manufacturer’s specifications and ensure desired quality and consistency is achieved.
·Clean paint guns, pressure pots, and pressure sprayers. Monitor the condition equipment used and notify production supervisor of maintenance needs.
·Prepare assigned product surface for painting with chemicals or abrasive substances as required.
·Apply paint to products with air atomizing paint gun, air assisted airless electrostatic paint gun, HVLP paint gun and powder painting equipment or other specified process as parts pass through paint booth on power-driven conveyor set to a predetermined speed.
·Ensure painted product meets production requirements and quality industry standards for film thickness, adhesion and appearance.
·Perform loader duties including; pre-assembly, pre-hanging of parts on overhead rack, load and unload parts on conveyor prior to and following painting and inspect parts going on and coming off the conveyor.
·Perform minor maintenance to paint equipment, conveyor, dry-off oven and spray washer as required. Change paint booth filters as required. Record weight of used filters in log.
·Remove and replace floor paper in booth.
·Dispose of cleaning fluid according to company procedures for hazardous waste.
·Maintain a clean and organized work area.
·Perform material handling duties to stage work for painting and for media blasting.
·Perform media blasting for paint removal in blasting booth. Reclaim usable media and discard unusable media. Sand parts after blasting to remove remaining paint.
·Perform yearly de-scaling of wash system. Peel and re-coat liquid paint booth yearly.
REQUIREMENTS
·Must be 18 years of age.
·Must have two years experience in mixing of paints and use of an atomizing gun. And have skills confirmed through a reference check prior to skills demonstration.
·Able to lift large, bulky items up to 50 pounds and reach heights of 70-80” above the floor.
·Able to wear an air-assisted respirator suit.
·Must have color vision
·Demonstrated ability to perform basic math skills including computing percentages.
·Willing to work with hazardous chemicals and abrasive substances. Read Material Safety Data Sheets.
·Available to work assigned shift (This is a third shift position working three 12 hour shifts overnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday), including weekends and overtime as required.
