OPM Project Planner - DR0800

DUTIES:
Incumbent works with project managers in developing cost, schedule and technical tracking systems for new projects; collects data on the cost, schedule and technical progress on those projects, and provides reports to the project managers and cost account managers. Develops cost, schedule and technical tracking systems for major projects. Collects data on the cost, schedule and technical progress on new projects being measured and provides “earned valued” reports that summarize the data to provide senior managers with an analysis of the project’s status at any time. Provides assessment of project management data and systems to ensure system integrity and data validity and resolve questions or inconsistencies that emerge. Makes recommendations for and implements changes to improve effectiveness and efficiency of systems and usefulness of reports to customers. Serves as a resource to senior managers on project planning, identification and resolution of interface issues, systems integration and conformance with design criteria. Provides regular briefings to the Director of Project Management on the project status of several projects. May make presentations to the Lab Director or Director’s Council on occasion. Promotes an environmentally sound and safe work environment. This includes knowledge of Jefferson Lab’s Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures with specific emphasis on the obligations to resolve or report unsafe, unhealthy, or environmentally unsound practices wherever or whenever they occur. Monitors cost and schedule data and informs management when trends indicate targets/milestones may be in danger of not being achieved/met. Maintain databases and prepare reports necessary to meet DOE requirements and JLab management needs.
REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
AS in science or engineering or equivalent plus 10 years experience in Project Management staff functions, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of best practices and innovations in Cost, Schedule, Project Management Systems, and Project Planning. Good planning, analytical problem solving and decision-making skills must be demonstrated. At least 7 years experience in Primavera P3 Scheduling software, computer applications and verbal/written communications are an absolute necessity. Proven ability to demonstrate skills necessary to exchange data between different software programs to achieve desired results. Experience with Primavera Enterprise implementation is preferred. Individual must be a team player and experienced in the coordination required to handle multiple projects and tasks. Individual must take initiative to obtain essential schedule and cost data from project participants. Experienced in other project management software.
