Electrical Engineer/Designer: Successful applicant must understand the range of electrical products and systems used in commercial construction, including lighting design/controls, power generation/distribution, telecommunications, nurse call, access control, CCTV, CATV, paging, etc., and be able to apply them to multiple types of projects (labs, schools, office buildings, healthcare facilities, high rise buildings, etc.). Successful applicant must be able to perform short circuit calculations, understand the application and precedence of various codes and standards to projects in specific jurisdictions, and understand interrelationship of MEP systems with respect to coordination and to implications of design decision on other disciplines. Mechanical Engineer/Designers: Successful applicant must understand and perform ductwork sizing (equal friction, static regain) and pipe sizing (CHW, HHW, CDW, STM), equipment sizing, accurate cooling and heating load calculations (with an understanding of all the components that make up the loads using HAP or other appropriate load calculations programs), accurate T-24 calculations, and accurate water and airside system pressure calculations for the selection of pumps and fans. Applicant must have an understanding of structural and architectural plans to determine fit of equipment and system within the building structure, and must be able to communicate effectively (email, phone) with others in and out of the office (project engineer, CADD operator, vendor, architect, etc.) to obtain and convey information for the completion of the technical tasks. In addition, applicant should be capable of performing site visits for the verification of as-built conditions for use in the design of remodel projects. Applicant must understand the need to locate points of connection and space requirements for new equipment, and exhibit appropriate behavior while performing these duties in the presence of clients and other consultants. Plumbing Engineer/Designer: Successful applicant must have a minimum of 5 years of experience and must have a basic understanding of piping system design, equipment sizing/selection, fixture selection, specifications and cost estimating for commercial type building (schools, office buildings, health care facilities, research laboratories, etc.). Applicant must have an understanding of civil, structural and architectural plans to determine fit of equipment and system within the building structure, and must be able to communicate effectively (email, phone, in person) with others in and out of the office (project engineer, CADD operator, vendor, architect, etc.) to obtain and convey information for the completion of the technical tasks. In addition, applicant should be capable of performing site visits for the verification of as-built conditions for use in the design of remodel projects. Applicant must understand the need to locate points of connection and space requirements for new equipment, and exhibit appropriate behavior while performing these duties in the presence of clients and other consultants.
