Manager Job - Major shipbuilder in Georgia has an Immediate Need for a Dockmaster. Position responsibilities include: Responsible for safe and efficient docking and undocking of vessels removed from the water for repairs. This position also requires experience in devising/manipulating calculations for the blocking requirements for lifting/docking vessels. Other essential Position Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate Rigger foreman and subordinates when docking, undocking, and movements of vessels in the dry dock railway, dockside, and hard o’neils; Oversees estimates relating to repairs and refits on all commercial vessels; Oversees upgrades and maintenance of dry docks and marine railways including associated equipment to ensure they are safe, operational, and maintained properly in accordance with naval requirements and OSHA standards; Creates and maintains dry-docking plans for positioning vessels when lifting out of the waterway for access to the underside of the vessel not normally accessible in the water; Determine when vessels will be moored based on length of stay and work being done allowing for the most efficient location for all functions; Maintain invoices, records, documents, tests, and inspections regarding repair and refit work in accordance with GSS standards; Understanding construction f all types of vessel construction;
Knowledge of mathematics; specifically trigonometry functions; Knowledge of stability calculations and how to determine stability curves; Must be able to create and decipher blueprints; Knowledge of basic CAD CAM. Education, Experience, and Equipment Requirements: A high school diploma or equivalent and technical training; 5 years of dry docking experience required; Certification requirements in Accordance with NAVSEA MIL-STD-1625C, APPENDIX C, Chapter 10 : a) Docking course(s), b) Stability Course(s), c) Block Construction, d) Dock Types, e) Blue Prints.
