Independent Custom Installer for Consumer Electronics Company

JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARYPerforms responsible office and field installation duties within the In-Home Installation Department. Assignments and duties may include a wide variety of residential installation applications. Installations will mostly consist of electronic consumer devices and products.
CLASSIFICATION DISTINCTIONSThe QRT1 position requires a self-motivated and responsible individual who is required to provide their own vehicle and tools. The QRT1 technician must demonstrate the ability to perform routine tasks under well-established procedures. It is the responsibility of the QRT1 to fully complete the tasks or jobs assigned to them without any additional manpower or supervision. As a representative of the Company, the QRT1 must maintain a professional attitude towards their communication skills, customer relations, personal appearance, and job site demeanor. Advancement to QRT2 will be achieved upon the successful completion of the QRT1 advancement book and department approval.KEY OR TYPICAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:QRT1?Hook up a basic home theater system utilizing a surround receiver and at least 4 other components (including the TV) that will drive an in-wall/on-wall or freestanding 5-speaker surround package with sub-woofer. Program manufacturers remote.
?Ability to install a DSS system (single or multi-room), and a HD antenna.
?Install an IR repeater System.
?Set-up Pronto and other remotes with laptop (TSU3000, TSU6000, etc).
?Set-up Tivo, Replay type devices. Must be able to set-up NetCommand.
?Install speaker selectors.
?Ability to install HTIB and specialty speaker systems.?Demonstrate the ability to property terminate RF, BNC, and RJ45 connectors.
?Cut in in-wall speaker locations, and mount at least one of each of the following wall devices - volume control, keypad, and LCD/Video panel, IR sensor.
?Complete understanding of fishing wire in new and existing construction.
?Read and interpret simple drawings and written instructions to ensure that installations are built to customer expectations.
?QRT1 tool requirement.
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONSHigh school graduation and other combinations of education and experience will be considered. Driving a company or personal vehicle is a primary function of this position; therefore a clean driving record must be maintained at all times. To ensure the safety record of our field staff the company will make periodic checks to the DOT for new and outstanding violations.
Knowledge of.... construction standards, basic mathematics necessary.
Ability to.... interpret construction plans and specifications, survey notes, and interact with the public and/or contractors.WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Incumbents are required to work in residential settings indoors and out in varied weather conditions, construction sites. Subject to working long hours, weekends and evenings. The knowledge and use of extension ladders and the ability to work at heights of up to 28 feet. The understanding and ability to use power tools and equipment.
Essential tasks include use of the telephone, personal computers, office equipment, and driving a company or personal vehicle to travel to various work sites. Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and with legible handwriting to a wide variety of individuals both formally and informally to include over-the-phone and face-to-face exchanges. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
