Overview: Baker Hughes has an immediate opening The HS&E Specialist located at 3900 Essex Lane in Houston, Texas. This position will report to the Director of Environmental Affairs and support seven oilfield services divisions of Baker Hughes. This position will be responsible for various environmental functions and general HS&E duties as specified below. Conducts integrated Health, Safety and Environmental audits and inspects facilities worldwide to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulations. Coordinates Audit Programs including the HS&E Management System Audit Program, Waste Vendor Audit Program and conducts associated training. Manages remediation projects and completes due diligence as required for acquisitions and divestitures of companies and leased or purchased properties. Provides guidance to the field locations regarding environmental programs: Hazardous and Nonhazardous Waste Management and Minimization, Stormwater and Wastewater, Remediation, Regulatory Reporting, HS&E Management Systems and Air Permitting/Compliance Management. Responsible for identifying the regulatory impact to various operating divisions from proposed or newly promulgated regulations in the environmental arena, and providing agency comments and field guidance when appropriate. May assist with capital recommendations in order to comply with government mandated HS&E regulations. Develops procedures based on regulatory, client and company business requirements. Effectively presents information and responds to questions or concerns from employees, managers, clients, regulatory agencies and the general public. Ensures the HS&E website and associated documents are kept current, and handles special projects as assigned. Participates in the development of environmental training and provides training or other presentations as needed. Handles special projects, as assigned. REQUIREMENTS
Current with trends/developments in HS&E. Thorough understanding of environmental as well as health and safety regulations and the regulatory process. Proven written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and field location personnel. Effective leadership skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Good analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Proficiency in Excel required; knowledge of Access preferred.
