The City of Naperville, an award-winning community located 35 miles southwest of Chicago, IL with a population of nearly 140,000 and 56,000 electric customers, is seeking an Electric Supply & Control Division Manager for its Department of Public Utilities-Electric. This utility has 16 substations with 1000 miles of transmission and distribution lines, of which 90% are underground, and a 388 MW Peak D/1,530,000 MWH annually. The Electric Supply & Control Division Manager oversees daily operations, construction and maintenance of transmission lines, substations, System Control Center, automation equipment and utility fiber optic and wireless network. It also directs, oversees and participates in the development of the division’s work plan. This position assigns work activities, projects and programs and monitors work flow, while coordinating activities with other divisions and departments. This division manager directly supervises four employees and is indirectly responsible for 20 employees. Additionally, this position is responsible for all divisional personnel matters; interprets city and departmental policies for employees; and develops, administers and monitors the divisional budget. Qualified candidates must have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus five to seven years of experience in electrical engineering or a related field. Experience with an electrical utility system, including distribution and/or substation experience, preferred. Valid State of Illinois driver’s license is required.
