Division Quality Director

Purpose:
The Division Quality Director is responsible for the overall management, direction, and implementation of McCarthy’s Quality Process on projects within a Division. The Division Quality Director has the responsibility to accurately and fully inform management of each project’s overall quality, including potential liabilities and/or concerns.
Scope:
Northern California Division, based out of Division Headquarters office in San Francisco.
Reporting and Working Relationships:
This individual will report to the Division Vice President, Operations and will work closely with and take direction on corporate programs and overall company strategy from the Corporate Quality Director.Participate in the National Quality Group focused on development of company procedures.
Responsibilities:
While each assignment varies, major specific duties may include:1. Present quality training at various Division training opportunities such Project Manager Training, Project Superintendent Training, and Management Development Program Training.2. Responsible for aiding project personnel in the implementation of the Quality Program Activities on their projects through pro-active training, support and examples.3. Development and Enforcement of Corporate Quality Programa. Participate in the Development of Corporate Quality Goalsb. Accomplish Periodic Site Auditsc. Maintain, Evaluate and Report Quality Metricsd. Verify Implementation of Site Specific Quality Plans, Building Enclosure Coordination Programs, Water Infiltration Prevention Programs and Infection Control Programs on Projects4. Periodic Reportinga. Monthly - Division Project Quality Status Matrixb. Quarterly - Quality Metricsc. End-of-Project - Value Added Summary5. Promote Good Relations with Risk Management/Legala. Quarterly Office Meetings to Review Claimsb. Joint Jobsite Visits When Appropriatec. Quarterly Avoided Issue Value Discussion (what issues were avoided due to implementation of the Quality Program)6. Promote Good Relations with Key Owners/Architects/Engineers (one per month)a. Discuss Quality Indices and Verify/Confirm Concurrenceb. Avoided Issue Value Discussion - Focusing Upon the Value the Key Owner/Architect/Engineer Received in Their Terms7. Review Claims & Latent Defectsa. Building Enclosureb. Mechanical Systemsc. Lessons Learned - Update Knowledge Base8. Monitor and Report Incentive Program (not yet defined)9. Maintain and Monitor Best Practices Database and Technical Expert Listing (not yet defined)
REQUIREMENTS
The following are skills that the Division Quality Director should possess:
1.Good verbal and written communication.
2.Process orientated:
a.Verification and Random Sampling Approach.
b.Implementation of Focused Initiatives.
c.Focus on Key Quality Process Characteristics (Define the End Goal, Work Done Right the First Time, Each Individual is Responsible for Quality, Verification - Not Inspection, Long-Term Focus, and Improved Quality Results in Lower Costs).
d.Not Focused on Just Completing Checklists or Writing Plans.
3.Understands design, construction and operations.
4.Hands-on field experience in construction.
5.Enjoys training others.
6.Team builder.
7.Good computer skills including proficiency in software programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Access, etc.)
