Cost Estimator and Scheduler

Duties/Responsibilities:

Cost Estimating: Prepare cost estimates through all stages of the design process, including the application of appropriate adjustment factors and markups. Participate in Value Engineering workshops. Prepare change order estimates and review and negotiate Contractor proposals during the construction phase.

Scheduling: Prepare design and construction schedules, including updates as required. Review and evaluate design and construction schedules prepared by others.

Conduct training for cost estimating and scheduling for other HSMM employees.

Certification: Become certified by AACE as a Certified Cost Consultant (CCC) or Certified Cost Engineer (CCE) within two (2) years of employment.

Education (Minimum Required):

2 or 4-year degree in Building Construction, Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture

Experience (Minimum Required):

5 to 10 years

Other Requirements:

Must be willing to travel and possibly stay extended periods out of the Roanoke office. Generally, travel would be within a 300 mile radius of Roanoke. Willingness and ability to obtain a security clearance is required.

Additional Education, Experience and/or Other Qualifications Desired:

Candidate must have estimating and scheduling skills relating to heavy construction. Must be able to visualize the construction process, sequence and support requirements to develop a realistic cost estimate schedule. Must have knowledge of MCACES for windows, MCACES Gold, Success, MII, PC-Cost, or other software. The candidate shall have a working knowledge of Primavera P3E and Microsoft Project.
