Heavy Construction Equipment Specialist

In the Texas Army National Guard, the Heavy Construction Equipment Operator operates crawler and wheeled tractors with dozer attachments, scoop loader, motorized grader, and towed or self-propelled scrapers. This important team member works with a skilled construction and engineering team in the construction of vital military infrastructure.


The Texas Army National Guard is an elite group of warriors who dedicate a portion of their time to serving their nation. Guard members train part-time to be ready full-time, should their state or nation call them to serve.

Interprets information on grade stakesClears, grubs, strips, excavates, backfills, ditches, stockpiles and pushes scraper with tractor crawlerCuts and spreads fill material with scraperScarifies, spreads, levels and constructs V ditches with graderTransports heavy construction equipment via tractor-trailerAssists in performance of combat engineer missionsConstructs berms, excavates side hills and finishes side slopes with crawler tractorGrades to final grade, finishes slopes and mixes soil stabilization materials with graderPerforms surface and drainage maintenance
