DUTIES:
This is technical work, of limited scope and difficulty, performing tests and inspections of construction materials of the civil phases of public works projects to assure that work performed by contractors and manufacturers complies with contracts, plans and specifications and meets current standards for work quality. Interpreting construction and contract requirements, and informing contractors and superiors of non conformity to contractual agreements and construction violations are significant aspects of the work. The exam for Construction Projects Technician is a written multiple choice examination with questions designed to measure various knowledge areas required to perform this job. Candidates that pass the examination are placed on a hiring list based upon their test scores, and those with the highest scores are considered first for employment opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:Completion of two years of study at an accredited college or university with major course work in civil, mechanical, metallurgical or materials engineering, or architectural design; or completion of a two year program at a technical institute with major course work in building construction technology, or civil engineering technology.
