Fire Claim Representative
Property and casualty claim experience preferred
Must be mobile to both Culver City and Westlake Village.
Key Job Family Responsibilities:
Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and conclude property and casualty claims in an assigned area to include verification of coverage, legal liability and extent of damage to persons, and property, which may require contact by telephone, correspondence or in person contact and/or investigation
May examine claims submitted by insureds and/or third parties, or such claims referred from other claim units, to determine whether additional or specialized investigation is necessary for claim resolution
Assist agents in the resolution of claims
May, under management's direction work with attorneys in defense of lawsuits
May prepare and/or review written or computerized estimates in loss settlements
May resolve a large volume of claim calls in an electronic claim environment
REQUIREMENTS
Items of Note:
Completes Claim School, required Zone Policy Testing, computer based training, and core courses
Fulfills state licensing requirements in applicable states and possesses knowledge of, and applies, state and federal laws, statutes, and insurance regulations in claim handling
Job may require travel via commercial transportation and/or driving motor vehicles
Position may require inspecting claims, which could include obtaining the measurements of the roof and living areas, the inspection of attics, basements, crawl spaces and other claim locations, and requires walking, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, stooping, crawling, and/or lifting objects
Requires lifting, carrying, unfolding, and climbing a ladder for inspections on both residential and commercial structures
May handle/investigate complex or large property/casualty claims, commercial claims, business interruption claims, and loss of income claims
Job may require use of electronic resources
Interprets and applies insurance contract provisions; learns and uses claims policies and procedures
Interprets, evaluates, and writes property damage repair estimates
Develops and applies basic knowledge of injury, property and liability issues to handle claims within authority
Consults with Claims management when appropriate
Provides reports regarding the status of claims
Recognizes subrogation and salvage issues
Effectively communicates with witnesses, agents, other insurance companies, repair shops, contractors, medical providers, attorneys, and others in the course of conducting investigations
