Civil Design Engineering Department Manager

Civil Design Engineering Department Manager Reference #143-0802-0387 Our client is a design firm in Coastal Texas. They are looking for a self starter who wants to be responsible for management of a department and overall supervision of all engineering projects and engineering staff. This individual will report directly to a head of the company.
This position is for a Civil Engineer with lots of hands-on design experience, dealing with clients and their needs, working with regulatory authorities to satisfy their requirements, etc. Typical projects include design of paving, grading, drainage, utilities, platting, land development, municipal improvements, etc.
Typical responsibilities include supervising a small staff of design engineers and CADD personnel. You will be responsible for quality assurance, engineering budgets, schedules, and client relations. Also will train graduate engineers and establish procedures for quality control.
Familiarity with construction is important, but design, plan production, specification writing and cost estimating is more important.
Salary $85K to $100K, plus benefits
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate needs:15 years design/plan production experience including:Paving, grading, drainage, storm water systems, water distribution, gravity sewer systems, sewer lift stations/force mains, platting, zoning, land development.Familiarity working with municipalities, industry, port authorities, departments of transportation, developers.Experience with construction inspection, administration, RFI's, CO's, pay requests, etc.Good working knowledge of basic MS computer programs; Word, Excel, Power Point, Project.Familiarity with Primavera Expedition a plus!P.E. required; RPLS is a plus!
