CONSTRUCTION DESIGN MANAGER
About us-
Mainstream Construction Group, a commercial small-box GC doing business throughout the Southeastern US, seeks a Design Manager with architectural, structural, and AutoCAD experience in the commercial small-box retail construction industry. A licensed architect or structural or MEP engineer is preferred.
The Job-
Our design department supports and delivers design projects with state-of-the-art computer tools including 3-D. Responsibilities include developing and producing drawings, layouts, and designs using basic design and engineering principles; working with reference files and cell libraries; and incorporate CAD standards and methodologies. Resolve design and coordination problems within project and industry standards, serve as lead designer, and plan and schedule the work of others.
Duties and accountabilities include:
Establish an internal capacity for the preparation of “signed and sealed' construction documents in behalf of commercial clients with small-box, retail and restaurant building programs.
Manage and simultaneously deliver multiple design projects and building programs that consistently meet client objectives.
Provide consultation and program management and general assistance to internal construction personnel as well as sub-contractors, clients, and other external parties as needed.
Prepare, refine, and oversee the project design criteria, scopes of work, schedules, and design budgets for the production of signed and sealed construction plans.
For new and renovation projects in states throughout Southeastern United States, direct the internal design function collaborating with corporate owners and directors, developers, franchisees, and company Estimators and Project Management.
Analyze monthly department performance against schedules and budgets, as well as participate in monthly project budget-vs.-actual costs reviews.
Work with regulatory agencies and local building department to obtain project permitting approvals.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications-
Minimum ten years experience in facilities design for corporate and/or public clients.
Understanding of engineering and design practice: and working knowledge of CAD database and CAD functionality is essential.
The ability to develop original layouts with minimal direction and knowledge of materials, specifications, field and construction practices, fabrication, and codes relevant to structural engineering are required.
Oral and written communication skills are essential.
