CIVIL ENGINEER I

SALARY: $24.01 - $32.68 /Hour CLOSING DATE: September 8, 2006
Performs civil engineering work at the professional level in the field and office.
Serves as engineer and project lead for minor public works and construction and maintenance projects;
Travels independently between office, job sites, and project meetings;
Supervises technicians and inspectors, and maintains necessary records and reports; Participates in the preparation of specifications, plans, estimates and reports involved in the construction, maintenance and operation of a variety of public works projects;
Performs design as well as drafting duties in connection with public works projects.
REQUIREMENTS
IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST INDICATE ON YOUR APPLICATION THAT AS OF THE CLOSING DATE YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING:A B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology or Mechanical engineering
SPECIAL PROVISION:
A Civil Engineer I who has been certified as a Professional Engineer by the State of Connecticut will be advanced to the classification of Civil Engineer II without examination, providing that the incumbent also has the four years of experience required to be certified as a Civil Engineer II.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
