ARCHITECT

Positions allocable to this class typically report to a Supervising Architect and functions as project architects, engaged in the preparation or coordination of the preparation of complex architectural design work. This includes the development of program requirements, plan layouts, schematics, preliminary plans, complete working drawings, specifications and cost estimates; prepares and participates in the preparation of feasibility studies and reports; conducts field investigations to obtain data, measurements, and information needed to draft or design details for alteration or new park construction projects; reviews the progress of all assigned projects to ensure that staff are working on schedule and within budgetary and fee limitations, as required; expedites the completion of work when delays occur; prepares reports, project status schedules and cost estimates; coordinates the status of schedules and estimates with departmental representatives, other project managers, and fiscal groups; reviews plans and specifications prepared by consultants to determine compliance with program requirements and County architectural standards; observes construction operations and materials to maintain design control; leads or directs architectural activities involving the design and plan preparation of parks construction projects; and attends conferences and meetings involving division heads, other County officials, contract architects or contractors to resolve problems.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

License:
A valid State of California license to practice architecture.

A valid California Class C Driver License is required to perform job-related essential functions.

Physical Class: 2 - Light:
Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved.
Special Requirement Information: Successful candidates for positions which require the valid California Class "C" Driver License will be required to obtain a copy of his/her driving record from the California State Department of Motor Vehicles before being hired. A copy of the driving record must be presented at the time of appointment. License must not be suspended, restricted or revoked. AN APPLICANT WHOSE DRIVING RECORD SHOWS FOUR OR MORE MOVING VIOLATIONS WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS WILL NOT BE APPOINTED.

DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in architecture or related field.

Full time licensed architectural work experience.
