POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President, Entrepreneurship Initiatives will have overall responsibility for top-flight and business-oriented management of operations of Economic Empowerment Centers in National Urban League Affiliate locations and coordinating their activities – providing business training, counseling, coaching, financing and procurement opportunities to minority and urban business owners. Will also have overall responsibilities for the Economic Opportunity Institute (EOI) to train Urban League affiliate CEO’s in social entrepreneurship and provide technical assistance to their affiliates. Also responsible for identifying and creating a national earned – income and business development strategy for NUL and its affiliates and implementing this strategy.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Oversight design, implementation, and coordination of research, development and information management projects at the Economic Empowerment Centers and for the Economic Opportunity Institute involving data/information collection and analysis and development and management of Web-based databases for information on entrepreneurship, financial, training and education, and procurement resources, etc.
Development and execution of marketing, communications, education and information dissemination strategies.Responsibility for evaluation of Centers’ work and EOI’s impact, periodic reports, and presentations to partners, at conference and other forums, as well as Board of Trustees of the National Urban League.
Responsibility for developing and creating one or more national earned-income businesses jointly owned by the National Urban League and selected affiliates or solely by the NUL which can help us meet both our mission goals and our financial empowerment goals.
REQUIREMENTS
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred, or the equivalent in education and experience.Minimum ten years of progressively responsible professional experience that includes most or all of the following:
Five years of senior management experience with demonstrated leadership and program management ability as well as a record of accomplishment.
Strong research and analytical ability, including collection, synthesis, analysis, and interpretation of business, financial, economic, market and industry data/information.
Knowledge of financial/business education and training, business coaching/counseling and mentoring.
Sound knowledge and understanding of entrepreneurship and minority business development and urban/community development.
Demonstrated ability to execute private sector-based approaches to urban economic development and community revitalization.
