VOLUNTEER & RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Position Summary:
This position is equally an internal and external volunteer coordinator, events management coordinator and United Way campaign coordinator.
Internal volunteer coordinator responsibilities: To develop, coordinate, and supervise an effective volunteer program to meet the on-going needs of service programs and administration and to enhance program function. The position will act as the liaison between individuals wishing to provide volunteer services to CCH and programs expressing the need for volunteer services. The position will meet with Program Directors as needed, to determine volunteer needs and recruit qualified volunteers for placement within the programs.
External volunteer coordinator responsibilities: To develop, coordinate and supervise community volunteers who wish to raise funds for CCH through major gift cultivation events, gala-type events and networking through country club and other membership organizations.
Fund raising responsibilities: To coordinate and develop the United Way Campaign, manage volunteer fund raising committees, coordinate in-kind donations, assist with the major gifts campaign and coordinate certain special events. As part of the resource development team, this position works closely with the development officer and Vice President of Resource Development and Marketing to create programs that cultivate new donors and ensure proper donor relations.
Nature and Scope of Position and Department:
The Volunteer Coordinator is the liaison between volunteers, CCH, and its programs. The position is a front line representative of CCH and, as such, must have an ability to relate with a variety of individuals internally and in the community in a positive manner.
As a fund raiser, this position works with volunteers, staff and donors to create an environment of giving within the organization and represents the development team in the community.

Mission and Statement of Corporation:
The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively towards the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children and individuals throughout Colorado. CCH advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being and stability of those it serves.
Given the limitation of funding for programs serving the homeless, CCH encourages and expects a high degree of cooperation and collaboration among its staff, programs, and community agencies. The specific duties and responsibilities of each position necessarily requires flexibility cooperation to achieve the organization's and programs goals.
General Statement of Responsibilities:
1.Provides direction and oversight of the volunteer program within CCH.
2.In consultation with management staff, recruits and retains quality volunteers to meet the needs of CCH programs.
3.Establishes policies and processes relevant to the orientation and responsibilities of volunteers to CCH.
4.Coordinates with program staff to ensure the volunteers are provided adequate site supervision.
5.Coordinates with V.P of Resource Development and Marketing cultivation events at the homes or country clubs of major donors.
6.Coordinates with V.P. of Resource Development and Marketing the recruitment of community volunteers for CCH gala type events and other committees.
7.Develops ongoing relationship with United Way staff.
8.Coordinates both internal and external process for in-kind contributions.
Specific Duties:
1.Work with the Resource Development department in establishing a volunteer base to assist with fund raising efforts.
2.Work with Human Resources to ensure professional volunteers are properly credentialed.
3.Recruit volunteers to work within CCH programs.
4.Provide CCH orientation and on-going training and education to volunteers.
5.Provides tours of CCH facilities to donors and volunteers.
6.Maintain statistics on volunteer hours and on effectiveness of the volunteer program.
7.Develop, in conjunction with the programs, the specific volunteer needs of the programs and a profile of the person required to do the job.
8.Develop recognition programs to reward volunteers for the services they provide.
9.Maintains volunteer database and provides reports on volunteer activities.
10.Speaks to corporate employee groups and other members of the United Way.
11.Organizes other staff members for United Way presentations and speaking engagements.
12.Works with VP of Resource Development and Marketing to implement cultivation events for major gift prospects and manage special events.
13.Develop ongoing corporate partnerships for CCH programs.
14.Manage the “volunteer” component of the website and collaborate with E&A on website activities.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
1.A minimum of 2 years of experience as a volunteer coordinator.
2.College degree (communications or marketing preferred).
3.Experience/knowledge in the development and management of volunteer fund raising committees.
4.A strong knowledge of the community resources available for volunteer recruitment.
5.An ability to interact with persons of varying degrees of education and professional experience in a multidisciplinary setting.
6.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7.Ability to work with minimal direction, to implement plans quickly, and to deal with multiple demands upon her/his time.
8.Comfortable working around people who are homeless and/or low-income.
9.Computer knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and data bases
10.Public speaking skills
11.A team player.
