Systems Engineer - BGIT

As a Business Group IT (BGIT) Onboarding Systems Engineer (SE) working with the Software Giant in Redmond, Washington you will closely partner with corporate business groups to drive requirements for the design and architecture of application support services and facilitate the deployment into production. Work days are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm as the core hours but these hours will vary during different phases. This SE will be the customer interface into BGIT, participating in regular development meetings for applications that are to be fully BGIT supported, provide feedback on application design to development/pm on supportability, review technical/functional specs for operations and provide sign-off or recommend changes. The SE will be responsible for managing cross-functional teams implementing new technologies and systems solutions or major phases of technical systems analysis involving multiple components, interfaces and user groups. The SE also will manage and execute project plans within BGIT processes.Responsibilities in this position include:
Participate in application development by driving security and application prescriptive architecture within BGIT supported apps, provide common sense audit against application design on behalf of BGIT to facilitate operationally effective administration and operations.
Communicate any operational issues raised by specs to the support team.
Gather and provide to dev the requirements from operations and production management.
Participate in application deployment by acting as subject matter expert or application issue expert in pre-production and in production, drive the delivery of application diagrams and documentation to production support and operations, prior to application release. Through the release process they will be developing FAQs and known issues training for production staff.
This person will coordinate deployment of production environment for new application install, drive creation of installation and ops guide documentation for the application prior to production handoff, assist in the setup of the UAT environment, coordinate training for tier1 and tier2 support teams and drive complete signoff and handoff of application into production.

Further Job Responsibilities for this Systems Engineer include:
Balances the customer's requirements with technical constraints (e.g. application size, network bandwidth, hardware/software/equipment selections) to ensure that the value of the project is realized.
Works independently or under very general direction.
Utilizes strong written and oral communication skills required in preparing project schedule presentations and status reporting.
Manages vendor/supplier/contract resources as required.

Requirements:



Required Skills for this Systems Engineer include the following:The successful candidate will be highly detail-oriented and able to work independently or under very general direction. Flexible work hours are a must. Web architecture design skills are preferred.2-3 years experience in:
Project Management
Business Analysis
Mentoring skills
IIS Administration
SQL Server Development
Knowledge of MS applications and BackOffice
Knowledge of client-server architecture
