Staff Development Coordinator

DESCRIPTION:
As stewards of nearly 14 percent of New York City’s land, the Department of Parks & Recreation www.nyc.gov/parks builds and maintains clean, safe and accessible parks citywide, and programs those parks with recreational, cultural and educational activities for people of all ages. EOE

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Parks & Recreation’s Capital division is responsible for redesigning and rebuilding the agency's more than 1700 sites throughout the city. In addition to parks and playgrounds, this includes bike paths, sea walls, outdoor pools, boardwalks, basketball courts, roller hockey rinks, baseball fields, and natural areas. Capital Projects is housed at the Olmsted Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens.

Under supervision, manage Capital Projects’ recruitment process. Analyze, research and prepare job descriptions. Track and analyze recruitment efforts. Schedule and oversee new hire orientation. Identify training and development requirements for Capital staff and implement programs. Maintain contacts within the community and colleges with design and construction programs. Maintain records and compile analytical reports concerning personnel-related data. Assist Chief of Administrative Services with other Personnel related issues.
REQUIREMENTS
Baccalaureate degree and three years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty. College level professional training in Human Resources Management or related field, and/or 3 years of Human Resources or administrative experience in a design firm, excellent communication and organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access preferred. New York Residency required within 90 days of hire. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
