BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Advanced Public Safety (a Trimble Navigation Company) is a dynamic, leading software development company creating targeted, innovative technology solutions specifically designed to address the challenges of today's public safety agencies. APS provides voice technologies, electronic forms/reporting applications, handheld solutions, and AVL/GPS/Mapping software to assist law enforcement and fire/EMS agencies. We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic Business Development Manager with a proven track record to manage a team of Sales Representatives within the Business Development Department. This is an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to leverage existing skills/relations to achieve significant impact and high visibility within an entrepeneurial organization that encourages leadership, teamwork and open communication, fosters innovation and creativity and promotes the higest ethical standards and business principles. There is a strong preference to attract top talent with public safety industry and/or government agency sales experience.

The position includes the following major functions:

• Develop, train, coach and support a team of sales professionals
• Identify business opportunities through new and existing relationships, networking, and on-line tools
• Independently or as part of an APS team, present credible experience and solutions to the key decision makers
• Support proposal preparation

REQUIREMENTS
The selected individual will possess the following knowledge, abilities and characteristics:

• Understanding of government agency (or related industries) sales processes and cycles
• Experience leading a successful sales team
• Ability to identify both key business needs and client decision making processes
• Outstanding communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Energetic self-starter
• Articulate and persuasive
• Excellent presentation skills
• Strong technical skills
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced rapidly growing company

The ideal candidate will have the following credentials and experience:
• Four year degree or equivelent experience
• 5+ years of demonstrated business development success
• Public Safety or Government Agency sales experience preferred
