Senior Planner

The successful candidate will be instrumentally involved in the preparation of NEPA/SEPA documents, including EISs, EAs, and related planning documents, activities, and supportive technical studies across the full spectrum of environmental planning subordinate disciplines. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of environmental planning consulting, from initial marketing and business development through project management to successful project completion, as well as for overseeing the growth of a robust environmental planning capability within the Honolulu office.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; prior public outreach and client and public stakeholder involvement experience, notably in Hawaii and/or the South Pacific, related to NEPA; advanced project management skills; ability to develop and deliver proposals and presentations to existing and prospective clients; and a strong, current working knowledge of the U.S. DoD, any service, within this region, are required.

The successful candidate shall have demonstrated the following abilities: Prepare detailed cost proposals and scopes of work; develop and manage project budgets and schedules; and support project invoicing.

Prior experience should involve all phases of the project life cycle including proposal/work plan development, project management, technical analysis, preparation of deliverables, and quality assurance. Well-developed familiarity with and use of MS Word, Excel, GIS, and database systems are important. Degree in environmental planning or related field with 6-10+ years of experience (including project experience in Hawaii area) preferred. Strong experience with DOD/Military planning work and knowledge of the Hawaiian Islands are greatly preferred.

Accountabilities
The successful candidate will serve as both a project manager and group manager/mentor for more junior personal within the Environmental Planning arena. This role will also be instrumental in maintaining and developing customer relationships and will help build Environmental Planning subordinate discipline practices, including potentially natural resources, cultural resources, air and water quality, and the equivalent, on an as needed basis.
