Senior Business Analyst

General Responsibilities
Review, analyze, and evaluate business systems and user needs.
Creates and maintains detailed documentation for new e.enablement functionality.
Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies.
Meets with third parties to understand capabilities.
Determines business requirements.
Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify Applications.
Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks related to Application Development and Management.
Utilize expertise and knowledge about advanced technologies and solution to support the growing Business needs.
Provides consultation on complex projects.
A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Will report to Director - Systems Applications and Development.
Additional duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor's degree (BS or BA) preferably in MIS field or equivalent experience.
At least 7 years of experience in the IT field or in a related area.
At least 3 years of experience in the Business Analysis or related capacity.
At least 4 years of experience in the IT development/Programming or related capacity.
Insurance Industry (Claims) experience.

Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures used for Business requirements/analysis, systems analysis, and programming.
Knowledge of MS-Office (MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Access) and other tools such as MS-Project and MS-Visio.
Knowledge of Relational Databases.
Knowledge of insurance industry, preferably Casualty Claim Management.
Knowledge of various requirements management tools (UML, Rational Rose, Caliber-RM, CASE tools etc).
Knowledge of web based technologies.
Knowledge of Cognos suite of Products (Powerplay and Reportnet)
Experienced in datawarehousing methodologies.
Experienced in conducting JAD and brainstorming sessions.
