Sales Applications Engineer

Responsible for the sale, development and installation of product, coordinating the implementation process with assigned territory accounts to ensure successful delivery of product to the marketplace. Provides concise product advisement to customers and assists customers with sales initiatives of CMD and Cummins product. Initiates proactive sales and/or service calls to assigned accounts to build relationships with territory base and promote the sales of product, while achieving individual performance measurements and sales and contributing to the annual sales goals of the organization.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain up to date information on assigned OEM accounts.
Territory review and OEM scouting for possible strong sales projects.
Support OEM and/or distributor sales activity to achieve maximum sales and market share in assigned territory.
Monitor and learn market area information and communicate information to Sr. Management.
Identify non-performing accounts based on market area plan. Recommends upgrade and/or terminations of OEMs and/or dealers as applicable to supervisor director.
Up-sell and cross-sell, suggesting product substitutes where applicable.
Execute sales and marketing programs and services.
Handle customer complaints and exceptions requests with minimal management intervention.
Maintain internal supportive working relationship with credit, technical service manager, customer service representative, sales coordinators, sales directors and marketing manager.
Travel for sales calls to territory customers and attendance at regional boat shows as deemed appropriate by Sales Director.
Other related projects as deemed appropriate by managing director.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
PC proficiency with Microsoft programs.
Certification at the MerCruiser/CMD factories as Applications Engineer. (or similar)
Good verbal and written skills for developing strong relationships with customers as well as good multi-cultural skills and sensitivities required.
Ability to independently make accurate decisions and analyze risk, while reasoning through problems and suggesting workable solutions.
Ability to get along with diverse personalities while remaining tactful, professional and flexible.
REQUIREMENTS
College degree in business or related field.
2-5 years experience in sales, preferably in the marine industry.
Must be Spanish/English bilingual.
