Sr. Consultant, Business Intelligence
Summary
The Sr. Consultant, Business Intelligence will be responsible for developing data analytic and reporting solutions for use internal and external end users. He or she will work with management to define functional analytic and reporting requirements and with technical staff to assemble, transform, and normalize data from widely disparate sources to build and maintain Shared Health’s business intelligence capability.
He or she will implement, administer, and maintain Business Objects business OLAP, analytic, and reporting tools, develop business-oriented metadata definitions, and provide expertise in the development of analytics and reports for use by different types of information consumers. Qualified candidates will possess strong analytic capabilities, relying on their experience, judgment, and creativity to transform data in to information. Preference will be given to candidates who have performed a similar function in a health care setting.
Functions
•Administers the Business Intelligence solution, including: requirements definition, requirements driven solution design and development, implementation and testing, and maintenance.
•Designs (or works with DBA to design) operational data store databases, reporting data warehouses using star and snowflake schemas, and data normalization processes.
•Develops and maintains Business Objects Universes to drive Crystal and Web Intelligence Reports.
•Develop and maintain Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence reports.
•Creates management dashboards that show the status of business metrics as defined by end users.
•Supports and maintains the Business Objects servers and application suite, administers security settings, and acts as a liaison with the vendor for upgrades and support issues.
•Work projects which cross multiple business functions. Meet with appropriate technical staff, end users, and management to define requirements and develop analytic and reporting solutions which meet end user needs.
•Apply analytic experience and available tools such as Data Mining applications to uncover information in the data related to customer trends, predictive modeling, etc.
•Produce and maintain detailed process documentation such as data process flows, data dictionaries, ER diagrams, star schema, etc. which cover all aspects of reporting and analytic processes.
•With vendor assistance, able to install, configure, and troubleshoot the Business Objects environment.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Candidate must possess strong analytic and problem solving skills with the ability to address relevant facts, identify alternative approaches, and supply recommended solutions. This candidate will demonstrate expertise in data analysis, dimensional modeling, and relational database platforms and tools. Our focus is on skills and experience Extensive hands on experience working with Business Intelligence tools, specifically, Business Objects to develop analytic and reporting solutions is required.
Required
•A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or analytic field such as the sciences, statistics, finance, or mathematics.
•Five or more years experience with BI and OLAP tools such as Cognos, SAS, or Business Objects.
•Five or more years experience and expert level competency manipulating data using MS Access and Excel to include VBA programming and macro design to create custom functionality and creative solutions.
•At least three years experience with complex SQL creation including the creation of views, procedures, and functions for use in reporting.
•Solid understanding of data warehousing, dimensional, relational and OLAP data modeling.
•Two or more years applied experience with Business Objects report and universe development, Web Intelligence, and dashboard development.
•Two or more years experience with all products in the Business Objects suite including Designer, Supervisor, Web Intelligence, Broadcast Agent Scheduler, and Administration Console.
•Proven track record implementing Business Intelligence projects from requirements definition through production deployment.
•Exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred
•MBA or Master’s degree
•Clinical background, or reporting experience in a health care setting.
•Hands on working experience with Oracle 10g, specifically warehouse builder and related components required for use with Business Objects XI.
