Proposal Writer

The Proposal Writer is responsible for researching, writing, and following up on all development proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers, and grant applications required to build, maintain, and increase NACCRRA’s donor base in support of its fundraising activities and campaigns.

General Functions: The Proposal Writer will work closely with the Development Director to ensure that all development cultivation and solicitation materials accurately reflect NACCRRA’s mission, policies, and programs. The Proposal Writer will be responsible for developing and managing a calendar for each of NACCRRA’s fundraising campaigns, and will manage the submission process to ensure timely submission of proposals and reports. The Proposal Writer will also conduct research on prospects and donors, as needed, and assist in donor relations.

Specific Duties:

1.Responsible for writing proposals, letters of inquiry, direct mail materials, concept papers, reports, development brochures, facts sheets, and other materials related to prospect and donor cultivation, solicitation, and donor relations.

2.Works with the Director, Finance and other divisions as required to develop proposal budgets and program outlines.

3.Maintains proposal and grant submission calendar to ensure timely submission of proposals, grants, and related documents

4. Works closely with the Development Team in preparation of the Development portion of the Annual Report.

5.Collaborates with the Development Director to develop cultivation and solicitation, and donor relations strategies.

6.Develops, maintains, and manages a tool to track the status of all requests for proposals and other development-related written materials.

7.In collaboration with the Senior Prospect Researcher develops and maintains a tool to track the status of all prospect and donor contacts, including cultivation and solicitation activities. And works with the Senior Prospect Researcher to produce a monthly Major Gift Donor and Prospect Report.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of a BA degree. Minimum 3 years experience in major gifts proposal writing and in grant writing. Must have excellent analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, and be highly motivated and organized. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, on-line grant submissions, and donor management systems. Experience using research tools.
