OPERATIONS MANAGER

SUMMARY: Provides quality and timely service to the customer through the recruitment selection, training and supervision of specialists and trainees, and contributes to the planning and execution of the branch sales effort to acquire new customers and upselling existing customers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential duties and responsibilities are listed below. Other duties may be assigned.

•Recruits, interviews, and selects the personnel needed to efficiently staff the service function.

•Plans and coordinates on-going training for service personnel in customer service skills, technical skills, and safety policies and procedures.

•Ensures diplomacy concerning customer service related concerns.

•Monitors and executes facility organization and maintenance.

•Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites work flow.

•Issues written and oral instructions.

•Ensures appropriate scheduling and maintenance of fleet.

•Maintains Department of Transportation files.

•Ensures new hires in the service function become licensed as required by company policy/state or federal law.

•Ensures current licensing is maintained by all employees as required by company policy/state or federal law.

•Assists manager – lawncare branch – in developing annual budget.

•Assigns and monitors duties to service personnel for efficiency.

•Examines work for accuracy, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

•Monitors and ensures the efficient use of materials and equipment by employees.

•Maintains morale among personnel and actively promotes teamwork.

•Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.

•Evaluates quality of service provided to customers and develops procedures to minimize customer complaints.

•Evaluates performance, makes salary recommendations, and administers disciplinary actions consistent with company policy.

•Works with other managers to identify ways to reduce customer cancellations.Job RequirementsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises five or more full-time employees in the lawncare department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or two to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, specialists, customers, and general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area and volume.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for problem solving. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
