Mobile Communications Specialist

This position is responsible for all facets of GTI’s mobile communication devices (MCD’s) deployed in our fleet. This position will work across department lines in identifying ways to improve utilization of MCD’s. This position will be responsible for retrieving data from the AS400, analyzing the data, and putting the data in a format that decisions can be made from. The person that fills this position will need to become an expert on all facets of MCD’s from a maintenance, operational and safety perspective.

Job Summary
•MCD Metrics Reporting – Create and update reports that will guide GTI to improved use of MCD’s, improve safety, improve trailer management and improve maintenance of MCD’s.
•Reports and Analysis – Create and update various reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
oWeekly management report which provides a synopsis of progress, metrics and opportunities for improvement
oTractor statistical reports, i.e., High messaging cost and Low MPG, and analysis.
oTrailer statistical reports, i.e., low utilization and non-functioning units, and analysis.
oWarranty report and analysis.
oInstallation and upgrade tracking and reporting.
oParts usage report and analysis.
oPart failure report and analysis.
oInactive trailer reports.
oReview all invoices from Qualcomm for accuracy and for ways to reduce cost.
oReview and recommend possible security protocol or solutions for protection of high-value loads.
oUse of DataVisor for analysis of SensorTRACS data.
•MCD Specific Tasks:
oAssign unassociated SensorTRACS time to the appropriate driver.
oSafety reports and follow-up
oOperations reports and follow-up
oTracking follow-up and resolution of equipment problems
oEntering drivers, trucks and trailers
oDeleting drivers, trucks and trailers.
oSensorTRACS faults investigation
oParameter creation, setting and resetting
oMessage analysis
oDriver tampering investigation.
oAnalysis of MPG, RPM and Overspeed for maintenance issues.
oTrailerTRACS monitoring for trailers that are not transmitting.
oTrailerTRACS monitoring for repetitive connect-disconnect problems.
oOrdering MCD equipment to meet the needs of fleet growth.
oWorking with the MCD provider to resolve problems and investigate opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS
Job Requirements
1.Education:A four year degree in transportation or business.
2.Experience: Preferably experience in the Transportation industry
3.Skills: Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word, Lotus Notes, Monarch. Must
be very organized, able to handle multiple tasks at a time, work independently, and possess good communication skills. Ability to take data, put it in a usable format, synopsize the data and make recommendations.
