Manager of Community Relations

New York Blood Center, one of the nation’s largest community-based independent research, blood and clinical service organizations in the country, has an opening for a Manager of Community Relations, working in our Westbury office, in the Long Island Blood Services Region.

The selected candidate will lead all communications and community relations activities to support donor recruitment and retention objectives by establishing working relationships with community and business networks from which Long Island Blood Services’ (LIBS’) current and prospective donor groups are likely to be drawn. Maintain ongoing contact with all local media to ensure that blood drive activities and results are well publicized. Write and edit all press materials and coordinate special donor, donor group and other business and community events to promote awareness and the importance of LIBS’ role in serving the community.
REQUIREMENTS
For consideration you must have a Bachelors Degree in communications or journalism. 5-8 years community relations/public affairs experience. Candidate must have experience working with the media, excellent oral and written communications skills and excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize opportunities. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint required. Fluency in Spanish desirable, but not required. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. Relocation will not be paid.
