Across our lines of business, our philosophy is the same: Partnering works for all of us.Line of Business: INVESTMENT MANAGEMENTThe Accounting Group Head will ?own? the BBH Investment Management division?s (BBHIM?s) accounting systems, and be responsible for leadership on projects involving these systems as well as smaller reporting changes and accounting policy decisions.BBHIM?s systems presently include Checkfree/APL, PORTIA and an outsourced relationship with SS&C. The Trust division presently owns and runs the Charlotte Trust Accounting System. Certain accounting and tax reporting needs of our clients are also met by BBH?s mainframe cash and custody systems in conjunction with an outsourced relationship with Wall Street Concepts, Inc..BBH has changed its internal architecture significantly over the past few years, installing the Eagle PACE system as both an investment data and transaction hub and a reporting warehouse, and the Charles River order management and compliance system. Increasingly, BBHIM?s accounting systems are back office systems, as front office support and reporting increasingly comes from separate trading and reporting systems. Having achieved much of this conversion, BBHIM is actively considering transitioning some of its accounts between its existing systems and/or evaluating other accounting solutions.The Accounting Group Head will recommend and implement key decisions on accounting policy, tax reporting, investment reporting, securities master file structure, reconciliation and accounting standards, backvalue adjustment triage and tax reporting standards. They will also lead projects for converting accounts to other systems, and generate ad hoc reporting samples for management or as templates for permanent report production.The IMAG group itself will not be large, but the IMAG head will work directly with the senior Reconciliation, Reference Data, Middle Office and Operations professionals to implement policy.The ideal candidate will have an investment accounting background, with decision-making experience at a money management firm or an accounting provider (such as a hedge fund accounting firm, the financial services division of a major accounting/consulting firm or accounting outsource provider). The candidate should have project management skills and technical skills, such as fluency working with ODBC connections and reporting tools (BBHIM uses the Hyperion product suite), the ability to analyze relational data structure and an understanding of project management principals.BBHIM considers this a management position.
