General Management
Reports to: Vice President Marketing, Strategy & Business DevelopmentJob Summary:
A Global Business Segment Leader leads segment team in the day to day business management of Intevia Intelligent Fastening Systems for the respective business segment. The primary objectives of the business segment leader are to maximize business growth in terms of volume, revenue and margin through development and execution of the market development strategy and sustainable segment business plan.Responsibilities to Include:
Focuses efforts of the organization on strategy and the tactical execution of leveraging new business opportunities, both short and long-term.
Owns the segment Target AOP and qualifies all opportunities that are entered into it.
Communicates the segment business strategy, tactical plans, business results, and other appropriate information with key stakeholders through monthly business segment reviews.
Serves as a member of the Global Business Team and in this role supports the development and communication of the global level strategies across all segments (Business Strategy, Market Segment Strategies, Target Customer Strategies and Product Line Strategies).
Provides regular communication on the status of AOP opportunities to the Global Business Team and to appropriate support functions through monthly business segment reviews.
Monitors progress of opportunities through an action/engagement plan, assures that ownership for each identified action is established and that resources are utilized in a focused and coordinated manner to maximize the new business generated. All actions/engagements are managed through a business segment team meeting.
Understands the dynamics of customers, competitors and market segments and communicates this information to drive decisions, direction and priorities of the Global Business.
Represents the Business at key accounts in the segment to enhanced relationships and lead negotiation of business related opportunites.
“Owns” the product line that is promoted in the segment and, in collaboration with the Product Development Manager and R&D Manager makes the decision regarding any new “tactical” products that are to be added to the segment product line.
Serves as a member of the Global Innovation Team. Participates in decisions regarding the development and launch of new strategic products and the utilization of technical resources. In this role shares ownership for the return on R&D programs supported by the Innovation Team.
Works in collaboration on issues that impact each business segment to assure that the best interests of the business overall are achieved.
Measurably contributes to the development of a focused, accountable, team-based culture that gets results with the Global business.
May be asked to lead or serve as a member of special project teams.A Textron Company
REQUIREMENTS
Ideal BS Engineering with an MBA.Position Requirements:
10+ years experience in target segment or related industry
5+ years experience in customer facing position; business development, product marketing or technical sales.
Demonstrated acumen in strategic marketing activities and processes, specifically Economic Value Creation and Value Based Pricing.
Experience with Team Based Selling highly desirable.
Effective leader and independent thinker who maintains focus on goals and objectives.
Commitment to and experience in a Team-Based Culture.
Accurate awareness of personal strengths and weaknesses.
Ability to think at both the strategic and tactical levels, including ability to drill down into details when necessary
Demonstrates consistency of style and message on business priorities and plans of action
Operates with a sense of urgency and ability to “think outside the box.”
Drives self and others towards completion of critical tasks to execute against goals and objectives.
Ability to manage competing priorities
Flexibility to interact with and effectively communicate regularly with all functions at all levels of the organization.
Ability to pick the right battles to fight, while remaining flexible on issues that are better handled at another time.
Capable of interacting with customers in difficult situations.
Must have good negotiation skills and the ability to design creative solutions to tough challenges.
Strong analytical skills including understanding key financial and strategic marketing elements.
