Sealed Air Corporation is a widely recognized global leader and innovator in the packaging industry that designs, develops, manufactures, and sells proprietary packaging materials. We currently have an opening at our Grand Prairie, Texas or Duncan, South Carolina offices for the following position:
Global Business Development Director (Transportation Sector)
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will define, initiate, implement and manage a wide range of strategic and revenue generating partnerships for the company. It will be responsible for identifying and developing new “high end” non-packaging markets, with an ability to understand market conditions and discern promising opportunities. This includes the responsibility for the assessment and commercialization of new market opportunities that may result in sales growth, margin and market share. Initial focus will be upon developing non-packaging markets around existing products (foams and films) or combinations of products. An intermediate/long term focus will be on developing new products for these markets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies product attributes and links those attributes to SAC products and technologies.
Responsible for establishing product specifications and criteria in developing products “fit-for-use” for the market application.
Identifies and develops new opportunities and builds relationships through participation in trade shows and conventions.
Develops strong customer relationships at a variety of levels and functions including product development, engineering, and operations and purchasing.
Responsible for generating quotes, obtaining samples, providing technical support to customers and obtaining PO’s.
Develops an operating plan that is consistent with and supports the business plan.
Determines and helps allocate required resources to successfully execute the plan.
Communicates and achieves clear and measurable expectations of performance for development plan.
Assesses competitor companies for appropriate opportunities and actions including acquisitions and partnerships.

Vendors
Government Agencies
REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE:
Experience with foams and/or film is desired.
Experience managing large and extensive marketing and /or technical projects.
Must have strong organizational, communication and project management skills, and able to handle multiple functions simultaneously.
Ability to write technical specifications and participate in key industry organizations is a plus.
Minimum 5 years experience with contacts within the transportation industry (automotive, marine, or aeronautical).
Strong analytical and problem solving skills including logic, structured thinking and quantitative skills.
Broad general business judgment/knowledge and the ability to see the “Big Picture” (i.e. out of the box and beyond black and white).
EDUCATION:
BS in Chemical Engineering or related field.
BS degree in marketing or an MBA would be a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to operate with considerable latitude.
Able to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with professional presentation and negotiation skills.
Must be flexible, innovative and comfortable in setting own priorities.
Able to assimilate and understand new technologies.
Work with various business and functional teams to successfully develop new markets and product sales opportunities.
Influential with applications engineering, R&D and manufacturing to deliver the right products to the market.
