Editorial Acquisitions Coordinator

Primarily supports the EIC, College Success, English, World
Languages, in both day-to-day and future operations to help ensure that
the objectives of the publishing group are met. Also provides support to
additional lists as necessary.
Provide administrative support
for the EIC and Publishers.Schedule appointments, set up meetings, and attend meetings as
necessary.Keep calendar and coordinate necessary arrangements for in-house and
off-site meetings.Make travel arrangements.Develop, coordinate, and produce various reports.Communicate effectively with customers, authors, and in-house and
corporate staff.
Provide administrative support to other members of the Humanities
editorial teams when necessary.Assists editors and team members with correspondence to authors,
internal and external customers, reviewers, sales reps, and other
publishing team members.
Coordinates the review of manuscripts by maintaining reviewer database,
selecting reviewers, preparing and mailing material, and monitoring
deadlines.
Assists with preparing art and text manuscripts for production.
Provides general administrative support, i.e. duplicating, mailing,
meeting management, etc.
Assists with preparation and distribution of author contracts.
Prepares and distributes product proposals and other reports pertaining
to editorial functions
Prepares check requisitions for payment of reviewers, for author grants,
and for freelance and work-for-hires.
Orders sample products using the AS400 system.
Prepares and processes all general text permissions.
Maintains editorial book-files.
Prepares purchase orders.
Performs other duties as assigned, or as judgment or necessity dictates.
Takes initiative on the completion of routine tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
BA or BS required. Position requires ability to manage
multiple priorities, close attention to detail, and strong interpersonal
and verbal and written communication skills. Excellent word processing
and spreadsheet skills are a must. Ability to exercise good judgment is
critical. Must be self-motivated with superior organizational skills.
Ability to establish order and procedures for larger groups of people in a
fast-paced environment is a must. The nature of this position also
requires discretion and confidentiality.Must have extensive software background: word processing (Microsoft Word),
spreadsheet (Excel), presentation graphics (PowerPoint) and database
(Access) familiarity are essential.Experience in a busy office setting reporting to a departmental manager is
preferred.Minimal travel required.
