Role: -Recognizes, analyzes, and resolves a wide variety of legal issues and changes with respect to intellectual property activities. May lead to project work.
Identifies and may lead projects to improve efficiencies and quality standards typically involving cross functional collaboration.
Serves as liaison between the patent department and internal customers across divisions
Under the guidance of attorney, management or senior analyst, may perform substantive custom & adaptive legal research involving in-depth analysis and prepares/provides summaries of results.
Under the guidance of attorney, management or senior analyst may perform substantive technical research including prior art searches.
Under the guidance of attorney, management or senior analyst may perform competitive intelligence by gathering information regarding IPR, financials and corporate information on competitors, prospective licensees, and potential litigants.
May assist in identifying key words for products, services and companies associated with relevant technologies to apply in portfolio management database.
Should be able to identify and apply technologies incorporated into QC product lines.
Responsible for auditing and correction of IPMaster data, reporting requirements. Some programming may be expected, works directly with IT or Programming Analysts.
Recommends creative, efficient, and cost-saving solutions on a variety of levels and contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, policies and procedures.
Delegates and manages workflow to appropriate legal personnel as necessary.
Provides cross-training, guidance and reviews quality of legal support staff work product as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
Skills/Experience: -Ten years paralegal experience preferably working in both corporate and law firm environments with 8 years experience in the IP specialty area.
People and leadership skills.
Outstanding independent judgment.
Advanced communication, legal writing, analytical, and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, drafting, on-line research, and scheduling software.

Additional Skills: -Possesses a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects and technical phases of the job. Demonstrates superior knowledge and expertise with respect to IP and legal issues including the practices and procedures of the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office).
Understanding of US and Foreign Docketing and the rules of the USPTO and Foreign Offices (Including PCT)
Overall deep understanding of patent prosecution lifecycle.
Understanding our Foreign Formalities, primary and secondary associates and how we apply for foreign patents.
Understanding of public search tools and the IP Master application.
Possesses a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects and technical phases of the job. Demonstrates superior knowledge and expertise with respect to IP and legal issues including the practices and procedures of the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office).

Education Requirements: -Completion of Bachelor's degree or participation ABA accredited paralegal program and the commensurate work experience.
