Business Development Manager/Director – Imaging Systems

This position reports to the Sr. Director, Business Development Unit Director and is responsible for developing and growing new business opportunities within the Remote Sensing/Federal sector. This would include Imaging Subsystems development and delivery contracts with Government Prime Contractors, as well as R&D and technology development contracts with Primes or Government Laboratories. This is a senior position, with substantial latitude. The principal metric for success is New Contract Bookings. The candidate would need to be a team player and lead pursuit teams consisting of BD, Technical and contracts staff. Additional responsibilities include account management, understanding of market and competitive environment, technology road mapping, strategic and business planning and forecasting. . Potentially a supervisory responsibility.Major focus is on developing new business and contract sales opportunities in the Federal Sector for Sarnoff’s Imaging Systems Business. Can possibly include additional market opportunities to foreign government programs. There will be numerical [bookings] objectives. Will generate leads and understand the business and technical competitive landscape. Must become aware of DoD, NASA and certain other Government agency major program flow. Will develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective customers, develop and manage agent and consultant relationships and work well with internal technical operations staff. Develop technology roadmap for next-generation products or major program bid opportunities and product features that are demanded by the market and deliver competitive differentiation. Will lead teams of technical, program management and Contracts staff to develop and close deals. Will establish annual forecasts and budget, and update monthly.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 7 years experience in business development or technology marketing within the Government sector or Aerospace marketing product arena, Proven success and deal history in developing and closing business deals/contracts. Familiarity and contacts within the Prime contractor community, and their suppliers and client base (Government Labs or Systems procurement organizations) is particularly helpful, BS in engineering desired, with selling experience in hardware subsystems development and deliverable competitive contracts. Optics or Imaging sensor experience is a plus. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, negotiations and problem solving skills are required, as is familiarity with the Government procurement process. . Characteristic attributes that will ensure success include passion and enthusiasm for the offering and opportunity, good communication, creativity, tenacity and organizational skills. Must be self-motivated and be able to travel and be away from home office for periods of more than 3 days at a time. International travel is possible Due to requirements for US Government contractors, this position requires a US Citizen or Green Card holder. Security clearance could be necessary.
