Business Analyst - Web Development
Designs and maintains the Graduate School web pages, ensuring the overall design is user friendly and appealing, verifying the accuracy and timeliness of content as well as links, and improving its effectiveness as a recruiting tool for students and postdoctoral trainees.Monitors positioning of the Graduate School web pages for various web searches prospective students and postdoctoral trainees might perform and takes steps to enhance or maintain the position. Uses graphic design, marketing techniques, and usability studies to project the appropriate image of the Graduate School to site visitors, in conjunction with Internet Services staff. Works with Audio-Visual and Internet Services to adapt various media or methods for use on the web pages; e.g., web-based surveys, podcasts of lectures, video streaming of courses and developing other means of presenting curriculum electronically. Works closely with Graduate School deans, program chairs, Graduate School staff, as well as other appropriate people to develop content, graphics, and interactive web experiences such as web-based forms, surveys, and flash. Content development examples would include postdoctoral trainee catalog, course descriptions and similar items. Supports the Graduate School’s computer users, particularly in terms of computer security and compliance, providing patches and making software recommendations. Works with other departments to improve on-line processes such as the admissions process, transcript access.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, graphic design or other related field and three years (3) years business systems and/or project experience with exposure to systems or project development and testing, installation, and training, and project management. Must have organizational and project management skills and effective communications skills, both oral and written. Heavy focus on customer service. HTML, flash and Dreamweaver skills, Flash and graphic design skills; e.g., PhotoShop are essential. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio etc. are needed.
