Associate Manager - Fundraising & Special Events

People who, through the very nature of their work, improve the lives of others…making the world a little brighter, and a little better.Our office in Tulsa, Oklahoma has an exciting opportunity for an individual to manage and coordinate fundraising activities of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) within the Eastern Oklahoma Area market. The candidate will have primary responsibility for high profile special events such as our America's Walk for Diabetes, Tour de Cure and School Walk for Diabetes. The appropriate candidate will be a self-motivated, high-energy person with demonstrated experience in identifying, recruiting & cultivating volunteers and will have a proven track record in generating financial support for events.Successful candidate is results-oriented with solid experience working with and through groups to achieve desired outcome in non-profit. Cold-call sales experience and customer relationship building experiences are highly desirable. Strong presentation skills, oral and written are required. Must know how to close the deal, confirm mutual understandings, and manage volunteer participation to successful outcomes (both the expected income goal and the day of experience for participants).Must pay close attention to details, be able to manage multiple activities, recruit and train volunteers to achieve expected outcomes and describe ADA's vision of successful events to volunteers. Conduct training and orientation of staff and volunteers, assess the fund-raising potential and develop an annual fund-raising plan and budget with goals & objectives.Assist in the recruitment of volunteer leadership of both medical and lay volunteers in all local activity. Must have experience in working with diverse volunteer groups from many employment and socio-economic backgrounds. Knowledge of the Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma markets is essential.
REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
3 to 5 years of sales experience (non-profit fundraising and/or special event experience preferred)
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends
Must have access to a car as frequent, daily travel throughout the market is required
